== History == Prior to the development of the PSS, assessment of stress tended to focus on objective indicators (e.g., frequencies) of specific stressors (e.g., chronic illness, family loss, new family members). This tendency subsequently overlooks the influence an individual’s subjective interpretation of a stressor might have upon the experience of a stressor. Cohen et al. (1983) viewed the void of the subjective component in assessing stress as an unwanted quality and developed the PSS in response. Specifically, the PSS is based upon Lazarus's original transactional model of stress that argues the experience of a stressor is influenced by evaluations on the part of the person as to how well they can manage a stressor given their coping resources. The original PSS consists of 14 items that are purported to form a unidimensional scale of global perceived stress. Although scores on the 14-item PSS tend to exhibit good reliability estimates across the literature, four of the items tend to perform poorly when evaluated using exploratory factor analysis. As a result, the PSS is commonly implemented using the 10-item form. Cohen et al. (1988) further reduced the PSS to a four item form for quick measurements; however, scores on the 4-item PSS tend to exhibit lower reliability estimates than researchers would like.
RNA-eIF4E complexes are never observed in PML bodies consistent with the observation that PML suppresses the m7G cap binding function of eIF4E. Although an initial study suggested that the eIF4E transporter protein 4E-T (eIF4ENIF1) facilitated nuclear entry, later studies showed that this factor rather alters the localization of eIF4E to cytoplasmic processing bodies (P-bodies) and repress translation. Potyvirus viral protein genome linked (VPg) were found to directly bind eIF4E in its cap-binding site. VPg is covalently linked to its genomic RNA and this interaction allows VPg to act as a "cap." The potyvirus VPg has no sequence or structural homology to other VPg's such as those from poliovirus.

== Toxicity == Since 2016, G. biloba extract is classified as a possible human carcinogen (group 2B) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. When eaten in large quantities or over a long period, the seeds may cause poisoning by ginkgotoxin (4'-O-methylpyridoxine, MPN), as found in a few case reports. A heat-stable compound not destroyed by cooking, MPN may cause convulsions, which were alleviated by treatment with pyridoxine phosphate (vitamin B6), according to limited studies. Some people are sensitive to the chemicals in the sarcotesta, the outer fleshy coating. These people should handle the seeds with care, wearing disposable gloves, when preparing them for consumption. The symptoms are allergic contact dermatitis, or blisters similar to that caused by contact with poison ivy. Side effects of using ginkgo supplements may include increased risk of bleeding, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, heart palpitations, and restlessness. Although use of standardized Ginkgo biloba leaf extracts in moderate amounts appears to be safe, excessive use may have undesirable effects, especially in terms of drug interactions. The dosing of anticoagulants, such as warfarin or antiplatelet medication, may be adversely affected by using ginkgo supplements. According to a systematic review, the effects of ginkgo on pregnant women may include increased bleeding time, and there is inadequate information about safety during lactation. === 28 January === The SAF claimed to have seized the RSF's Medical Directorate located in the former SAF Paratroopers base in Shambat, as well as the Blue and Bashir Towers in Khartoum Bahri. The RSF announced the death in action of one of its senior commanders, Rahmtalla al-Mahdi, also known as "Jalha", along with his brother. The two were reportedly killed in an airstrike east of Khartoum.

=== Other === Diazepam is used for the emergency treatment of eclampsia when IV magnesium sulfate and blood-pressure control measures have failed. Benzodiazepines do not have any pain-relieving properties themselves and are generally recommended to be avoided in individuals with pain. However, benzodiazepines such as diazepam can be used for their muscle-relaxant properties to alleviate pain caused by muscle spasms and various dystonias, including blepharospasm. Tolerance often develops to the muscle relaxant effects of benzodiazepines such as diazepam. Baclofen is sometimes used as an alternative to diazepam.

However, riboflavin supplementation in large excess of requirements causes urine to appear more yellow than normal. When consumption exceeds the ability to absorb, riboflavin passes into the large intestine, where it is catabolized by bacteria to various metabolites that can be detected in feces.
